About Me
I grew up in northern New Jersey to a working class family. I received a BA in History and a MA in Teaching from Fairleigh Dickinson University and in 2007 moved to Flagstaff, AZ where I worked and taught while learning how to rock climb and mountain bike. After a year in the desert of Prescott, AZ between 2011 and 2012, I enrolled in the Buddhist Inspired Naropa University, in Boulder, CO where I received my Masters degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology. I remained in Boulder until 2017 when my now wife and I moved to Asheville, NC. We now have two children and fondly call Asheville home.
As a therapist, I specialize in working with adults who have experienced adverse childhood experiences, significant loss, addiction, co-dependency and other difficulties with relationships and trust. My aim as a therapist is to help create an environment of openness for clients to explore their experiences and gently provide support to deepen insight, develop understanding, grieve, and cultivate compassion. Through individual counseling with me, you will learn how to relate differently to thoughts, emotions and behaviors that distract you and get in your way from living the life you want. Some of the therapeutic models and perspectives I work with include contemplative psychotherapy, attachment theory, gestalt therapy, somatic psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness and meditation.
