Neurofeedback with
Megan Hearne
I've been a neurofeedback practitioner for over 6 years. Formerly, I was an environmental advocate, biology researcher, and science teacher, as well as a stay-at-home mom for several years.
My goal with environmental work and teaching was always to provide people with good information to make better choices. But after a few years, I realized that when we are stressed, anxious, unable to focus, short on sleep, etc., we can’t make better choices, no matter how good the information is.
This led me to obtain training in neurofeedback through the Institute for Applied Neuroscience and EEG Education & Research. I received professional supervision from Robert E. Longo, MRC, LPC, NCC, BCN Fellow.
I am currently enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and will soon be a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.
I love helping my clients lead more vital and fulfilling lives because they feel better, are functioning better, and are choosing wisely. Be brave! Choose to feel better. It’s not selfish to do so; taking care of yourself benefits everyone with whom you interact.
NeuroFeedback
Neurofeedback is a simple non-invasive way of training your brain to work more efficiently without medication.
Brains are plastic, which means they can change when given feedback in response to the EEG (measure of electrical activity in the brain). Brains also change based on any task that you repeatedly practice, such as learning to play piano.
Like a game of hot and cold, the computer software encourages or discourages certain brainwave frequencies with audio/visual feedback. Based on my assessments, I will create an individualized protocol for you to optimize your brain function.
Neurofeedback helps your brain and your nervous system have an appropriate level of activity for a given task and better flexibility for switching between tasks. An analogy is smooth shifting when driving a car; and we don't want your foot stuck on the gas, or the brake, or both at once!
When your nervous system is regulated, you can choose where to place your attention instead of being pulled around constantly by your environment or by your internal storytelling.
Symptoms of anxiety, ADHD, depression, sleep problems, trauma and many other things are successfully relieved with neurofeedback. It also is used for peak performance enhancement by athletes and musicians. I work with adults and kids as young as six.
Neurofeedback encourages and is best supported by a healthy lifestyle. Many of us already know what we "ought to be doing" to be healthier but have trouble implementing those changes while we are struggling with poor sleep, anxiety, or lack of focus. Luckily, neurofeedback makes it easier to work smarter, not harder, and make some of those positive adjustments.
I help my clients achieve vitality with a combination of neurofeedback and integrative nutrition health coaching. My role is to leverage your potential with guidance and attention to your unique needs and goals.
On a personal note:
I am a devoted mom of two teenage daughters. Right now, I’m living my own most fulfilling life which I measure in quality time with my kids, cooking good food for my family and friends, having outdoor adventures, being physically and mentally healthy, loving where I live, and feeling grateful for my vitality every day.
